  1. I was saddened to have learned so late of the passing of Doreen Hayes several years ago. I was in my early teens when I first enrolled at The Doreen Hayes School of Dancing (1960s). In retrospect, those were the happiest days of my life. Doreen was so full of vitality. She was an inspiring instructor who had the knack of bringing out the best in her students. Dancing was truly in her blood! And she had marvelous showmanship. I will always cherish the memory of her exciting recitals and the opportunities she provided for me to perform onstage in a variety of locations. I would have those days again. Doreen made an enormous contribution to the community, especially to all of the young student lives she touched over the many years of her career. I can still vividly remember some of the accomplished dancers she developed. She had the knack of making all of her students feel special. For the short while I had the privilege of studying tap dancing under her direction, Doreen inspired me and gave me a glimpse of a glorious future that might have been if only I had continued with my dance lessons with Doreen. My belated heartfelt condolences go out to her family for their loss of such a wonderful person. Her memory lives on to eternity.
